Domestic Violence
This online course will provide valuable information on how you can address the needs of youth who witness domestic violence. Participants will learn about the dynamics of domestic violence, effects of witnessing domestic violence on children, how parenting is affected and best practices in responding to youth who are exposed to domestic violence. Anyone working in the community will be better equipped to address the needs of families who have experienced the trauma of domestic violence. Includes reading, assignments and test.
Learning Objectives
The learner will be able to:
- Identify characteristics specific to the "House of Abuse"
- Identify strategies to responding to the survivor and provide safety planning
- Identify 3-5 ways in which DV impacts children and the effects of DV on parenting
